First-ever PCRC meeting at an MPD Precinct
PCRC Meeting at MPD 1stPrecinct 10am July 14
At the invitation of Co-Chair of the Police Community Relations Council (PCRC), MPD Interim Chief Bill Peterson, the PCRC will meet July 14th at 10:00 a.m. at the newly opened First Precinct at 330 South 12th Streetin downtown Minneapolis. “Our first order of business will be to follow our MOU with the City of Minneapolis and welcome Interim Chief Peterson to the PCRC table as we have with a series of previous Chiefs,” declared Ian D. Bethel, Chair of the UCMT and Co-Chair of the PCRC. “We welcome the Interim Chief to this table to continue our journey of Reform, Transformation, Transparency, Accountability, and Consequences, in Public Safety and the Community.”
The meeting agenda includes:
· Review of Section 2 of the 8/3/2022 MOU: MPD-Community Relations
· Review of Changes made to MPD Command Staff and the MPD PCRC team
· Adoption by the PCRC of the 2025 report from the Compliance Committee report, that is referred to the PCRC for final adoption
· Update of MOU based programs
§ the Community Mentor program
§ Neighbor to Neighbor Mediation program
§ Recruitment of Foundational Black and Native American officers: MOU Section 4
· UCMT communication with Mayor Frey about the urgency of community involvement in the search and interview of potential candidates for the next MPD Chief
· Confirmation of Tuesday October 20, 2026, 5:30-8:30 p.m. at NAACP Minneapolis 1101 West Broadway, for the PCRC Annual Meeting and Community Dinner Event
